Remove the Bombcap?
Let's face it - While 6x 3/7/14 is enough to wreck the station, Toxins is a lot more rewarding and a lot more !!FUN!! when toxins scientists can truly measure their e-peens, instead of dusting themselves off and calling it a day when they hit 3/7/14. Especially with the new toxins which, I believe has a freezer? Bombcap is trivial if you know what you're doing.
Take the babby mode off, it's more !!FUN!! when you're limited by physics itself, rather than an arbitrary set of numbers. I have it on good authority that the absolute maximum on explosions is 10/20/40, and that's with a burn mix at about 40,000 Kelvins (Comparable to some main sequence stars and an order of magnitude above the melting point of Tungsten). I'd love to see people try their hand at reaching/breaking that - I think taking the babby mode off will add a lot of competition and skill to toxins, and will put a lot of fear back into the station's crew.

Server Stability does not equal babby mode.

Being able to bomb the server into crashing ought to be a point of pride - If someone's capable of doing that, they ought to be able to.Skorvold wrote:Server Stability does not equal babby mode.
Also, you could just say "Don't detonate all your huge bombs at once. If you crash the server, we'll be mad."

But like, making the best bom possible really isn't that hard, and just one going off fucking ass blasts the server to shit, let alone 6.

Re: Remove the Bombcap?
I think bombs are well balanced as they stand, they can make a large dent in the station that is repairable but not to the inane point where a single bomb can destroy a entire department literally.
A bomb just outside of the brig will only penetrate the outer brig area, the Armoury and Warden's Officer will still be mostly secure. Also currently it takes two bombs to breach into the AI Core from the outside, if the bomb cap was increased you could potentially kill the AI from outside the AI Satellite with just one bomb, instead of needing three.
Also the fact a player can get away from an active bomb alive, if the cap is increased it will kill far more people than bombs can currently, usually in gibbing them.
Removing or increasing the bombcap would be a bad thing in my opinion.

Re: Remove the Bombcap?
I still say that increasing the bomb cap while at the same time making TTVs bulky is a good idea.
Balance!

Re: Remove the Bombcap?
I can totally get behind TTVs not fitting in backpacks and having inhand sprites if you want to remove the bombcap.

Re: Remove the Bombcap?
Even better - Make TTVs able to be worn on the back, with a large, obvious on-sprite. Even better even better, it cannot be removed by the person wearing it, electropack style.

Re: Remove the Bombcap?
Again you want to sacrifice everyone's fun for fun of one particular job.
Let's see what removing the cap would do:
Increase lag
Increase amount of people removed from the round
Increase someone's boner once or twice until they have the perfect recipe
That's not really worth it if you ask me. Besides, you can trade TC to admins for increased bomb cap.

what lo6 said
there is no reason for nonantags to use TTV's ever, there is no exception to this rule.
actual antags who have a need to cause chaos can trade TC if theyre confident they can make a good bomb and they want everyone to lag the fuck out

Re: Remove the Bombcap?
I used to use bombs to kill confirmed wizards with no apprentices just for the salt before that was considered a no-no, with full knowledge I'd be banned if I missed the target. Good times but horribly against toxins policy now.

Re: Remove the Bombcap?
Honestly, if you suicide bomb the wizard, or the nuke ops squad, or the alium hive? I'm going to give you a Medal of Valor posthumously unless you did something like take out the entire sec force/brig at the same time. Because really, Toxins needs more opportunities to get their rocks off than rolling for antag.paprika wrote:I used to use bombs to kill confirmed wizards with no apprentices just for the salt before that was considered a no-no, with full knowledge I'd be banned if I missed the target. Re: Remove the Bombcap?
With the AI satellite there is indeed a pretty good location for non antags to use bombs. The whole thing is like a "blast in case of rogue" sign floating in space.
I also have seen rare non crew murdering uses against blobs. Usually multiple to take out the floor all around the core turning it into a big green sloth.
Please keep bomb cap, this whole idea that server busters are hard to make is just not true.

Re: Remove the Bombcap?
This is just silly. The bombcap is reasonable, and people should be dissuaded from bombing as a solution anyway.
It's incredibly risky both IC and OOC, and shouldn't be used except by antags and in extremely specific situations.
I would like to see something that toxins could have a legitimate use for. Like teleporting explosives to mining in larger quantities that it currently has now. More intercommunication between sciences departments would make it a lot more fun. I already enjoy the conflicts and cooperation between Robotics and R&D. It would give the RD more to do in general.

Tunderchief does it as antag just to ruin/lag up the round so people give him attention. And look at what you're doing, giving him attention.miggles wrote:you sound like tunderchief

Re: Remove the Bombcap?
The bombcap is a server host choice, not a code maintainer/coder choice. Sorry to rain on your parade but this will never happen.
Edit: Bomb making is easily the most problematic non-antag shitfest next to bad security. Nobody making bombs is content with blowing up the test site and is just itching for a reason to blow shit up, despite the fact that putting random holes in the station is just about as hands on "fun" antag as murderboning is.

*raises hand*
The one time I decided to make bombs as a non-antag I sent them all to mining...
That was the second time I made bombs...
