Or just accept that admins are not absolutely perfect and can fuck up on occasion. I promise, being kicked off the server for 24 hours will not cause you to shrivel up and die, and if your appeal really is successful, you get to feel vindicated anyway.

this is certainly a frustrating aspect of appeals for the player but sadly i'm really uncomfortable with anything that "gamifies" things like the appeal process. these shorter "timeout" bans are in essence a mercy to the player in the first place, and admins know not to place weaker bans for "flimsier" reasoning - if the reasoning is flimsy, a ban shouldn't be applied at all!

if a ban was made in absolute error by the admin then that admin should be taking notes on what they did wrong to try and avoid it from happening again.

I agree that it's a good spot for the admin to reconsider stuff, and there definitely shouldn't be an actual negative outcome for the admin because they were trying their best.

I just feel like getting something other than a sorry and "vindication" would be nice for the player.

For reference I am making this thread as a result of the captain that shot a tider that broke into the bridge then threw their body out (into a hard to reach place). They were told to appeal on the forums if they disagreed.

If the player was able to understand the allowed to kill people that break in is a guideline in some areas and valid alert in others, then I agree this could have been a note.

It wasn't an absolute error to place, but I don't think it was a mercy either.

I guess this is closed? I don't see a need to do anything here. If someone successfully appeals a 1 day ban they get the note removed.
