Detailed summary:
So there i was, seccing and trying to deescalate dumb captain from killing entire assistant pop on 70ish players even if they did decon entire bridge and broke upload while lying critted by valid hungry curator and when i finally get curator down and solved i think i will go get donut and
DEATHSQUAD LOL

Man himself said his justification for it was "people were shit in OOC and deadchat" or words to that effect.
He could have just left the server. He chose to kill 90% of the station with deathsquad, leading to players into believing if you act shit enough, you get to purge station as deathsquad. I didn't even notice OOC since i have learned to filter it out and it's all memes anyway.
I'd like you to justify killing me specifically with adminbus then since it affected me when you could have just not done that instead and banned worst offenders out or something.
Or muted OOC and dchat. I dunno. Left maybe?

I was an antag this round and when the death squad showed up I got really mad. I finally managed to roll ling miner and I wanted to try and do some mining gamer gear stuff but nope death squad.

My head got cut off by an e sword and because of vesetgial shit being broken I couldn't revive.
Literally hadn't done anything antagonistic yet because I was just preparing.

I was a deadminned ghost when this happened.

This occurred about 20 minutes into the round after an excessive amount of tiding from assistants, took around ten more minutes before someone called the shuttle.

BGO's Statement in OOC regarding the situation;

OOC: Bgobandit: I apologize for the death squad; next time, try not to act like screaming 12-year-olds over OOC, then move it out of OOC when it is muted for that reason, while simultaneously producing the worst graytide I have seen in literally seven yeas

I've said basically everything I have to say about this. However, some clarifying notes:

The checking antags was to check the round type before spawning a death squad, to make sure that there was not an ongoing team mode such as rev, cult, nuke ops, etc. (The level of grief seemed consistent with a potential revolution -- I want to say people brought up the possibility, but I could be mistaking an earlier round.) Hence, my reference to the fact that it was dynamic (a mode in which it is understood that things can mutate at any point).

The succumbing was because of the aforementioned death squad, which had started attacking. I don't remember whether I was in crit or not at that point, but I was in handcuffs, with a death squad nearby. I don't think it's particularly out of line to succumb or ghost at this point.

I also want to reiterate that I was not remotely joking in the slightest when I say the level of griff and tide taking place in the round was some of the worst I have seen in the roughly 7 years I have played this game. It is sub-Nox level. realize that part of this is that the server just went on the hub, but this does not mean the rules have changed.

It's worth nothing that the lings had the team antag objective.

I would like to say, there WAS a team objective for the lings, and a bit of grief (which was basically just smashing the bridge windows and some computers) doesn't justify a death squad at all, if anything all the antags from that round should be given a token for the inappropriate death squad call and killing.

Pizzariot was worse. Arguably i have seen people tide more than this and nobody pulled deathsquads on the pop over it.
I was in the middle of it, only one's escalating it was the captain. Maybe that really dent curator who really wanted to kill me counts? I, seccat, was left alone even when the tide was at it's worst in the middle of it.
This is not bad tide, this is people being kinda dentheads and overly exited over one thing or another and being ree.
That gives me zero cause to murder or baton people that they break shit, it's seventy pop, the amount of bored assistants is real and you just gotta admit some losses like entire bridge are going to happen and you can't solve that without a maxcap and being a fucking cunt who get's rule 1 banned for forever or something.
I saw no-one be harmed or any real blood trails to evidence people were harmed by this. Captain for some reason tried to order lethals but that's neither her nor there. It's his job to be in brig and be blind to the reality of it.

Whatever happened in OOC and dchat are not relevant to me as I was alive and firmly IC.
On my part, simple apology is enough, rest of the 70ish people were still affected.

I was a roboticist during that round, went to lavaland to mine mats for mechs. I received a PDA message saying "The party is moving to the ai upload!!" And shortly after people were screaming about deathsquad over the radio.... and this all happened about 15 minutes into the round, ruining all my plans for the round because the deathsquad were already killing everyone on station.

I feel like it's less that and more that you're essentially rewarding griffons (I realize this is not the intention, but that's what the 13 year old griffons peanut brain will think) who got taken out of the round for being shitters with a pretty rare and coveted adminbus button that they can use to further grief everyone instead of banning them that's being disagreed with here.

The way I see it, the issue is that BGO continues to try justify round removing those who did not tide without recognizing any wrong-doing in their actions, while barely maintaining a very half-assed and seemingly disingenuous apology. Just something to consider.

I have apologized for the specific choice of a death squad, and stand by that.

I am not going to apologize for calling mass graytide, shitting up OOC and then continuing to shit up other venues once it is muted, etc., against the rules, even if that means people don't get to "have fun."

I'm not sure what else can be done when I have already apologized, reiterated my apology, and then am accused of not having apologized.

Not to mention the implication that the death squad (which I have apologized for) was the result of "being a salty nerd over not being invited" to mass grief, as if there is any indication that I would ever want to do such a thing, or that this was anywhere close to my motivation. I am not going to apologize for a motivation that I do not have.

Also, on a different note, I am happy to give antag tokens to anybody who was an antag in that round and would like one. The reason I hadn't done this previously is because I was under the impression it was a headmin call when it involved a complaint. I've since been told that it isn't.

Specifically, I'm guessing this includes the people in this thread who were lings, and I know there was at least one other person who had asked (I don't remember who it was, and since I'm technically at work now, won't be able to look up logs until tonight at the earliest.)

I assumed that was implied by there being a death squad, since a death squad always does that.

But if it needs to be completely spelled out, I apologize for spawning a death squad that has the hardcoded objective of "Leave no survivors." i.e. killing the crew.

We will start off by running through what happened,

Player from event hall comes on and talks about the round that just ended there, at first glance this really does look like IC OOC, and we have no issue with BGO choosing to mute it.

BGO plays in this round as a clown and is involved in some minor conflict with the crew,

Note: Alot of attack logs were snipped for brevity's sake, but it was essentially a string of small IC scuffles.

BGO then creates a deathsquad,

BGO rejects a ticket from someone who they had a very minor fight with earlier,

While the tiding in the round was higher than normal, that does not excuse creating a deathsquad, especially while you were directly involved in conflict during the round as a player.
It also creates conflicts of interest like with the above ticket rejection. After discussion with BGO we don't believe they were was any malignant intent behind their actions, but this does not excuse them.
This matter has been discussed with BGO, a week server ban has been applied, and antag tokens have been handed out to affected parties.
