Stellaris is introducing a resource market
If you look carefully you may also notice it includes a tab called “Slave Market”

all these little screencaps imply they're going to redesign the pop system pretty significantly

It also looks like they have the number of buildings you have limited to the planet's development level? No clue how to increase that, either.
There's the fleet manager. You set how many of each design of ship you want and then click on Reinforce, which auto-queues as many ships you can afford and makes them auto-move and merge with the fleet when they are doneCosmicScientist wrote:I tried playing the current system for three hours last night and couldn't find much joy. Why did they make it harder to build corvettes? Is there a specific military interface that I can just ask for X of Y to group up at Z?

There's also the quick-reinforce on the fleet when you click on em. Sure, you'll need to go to fleet manager if you want to add more ships. but quick-force is still useful.Ikarrus wrote:It also looks like they have the number of buildings you have limited to the planet's development level? Looking forward to the change in planet organization. The tile mini game was fine and dandy early game, when you only had a few planets to control. Later on, it's just "Welp, this is science/industry/energy world, I don't care that I'm paving over a +4 food node, I NEED more engineering research!"
Really though I've been watching Aspec, a youtuber who works with Paradox, and they are doing a HUGE rework. Edicts? No more. Sectors? Gone. Planet/system based unity/science malus? Removed, it's now just based on how many districts you have on a planet.
I am very, very thankful for the change to building costs. Now, my TotallynotTyranids hivemind can focus on acquiring more delicious biomass to fuel it's never ending hunger, instead of needing to build factories and install power plants into their hivefleets.

Yeah I'm pretty excited about the game economy moving more towards simulation than the cookie-clicker economy it is now.

Planet edicts hasn't really been a thing since the last big expansion as most of them were moved to empire edicts. They just changed the terminology when adding more of them (probably to better differentiate from Empire Edicts) and incomp was just pointing it out for Kel

I've been meaning to play a corporate dystopia for my next playthrough anyways, so this is very timely news. I just need to decide what kind of corporate dystopia I'll be since they're fleshing them out quite a bit
This update is looking like a really good candidate to make the game more involved than a "wait until you can declare your next blobbing war" simulator, but we'll see

Megacorps have ethics and given the typical procedure for dealing with revs I would say NT is in part authoritarian.
Sheesh I remember Slig saying NT would be egalitarian ahahaha.
Probably materialist and xenophile too. All are welcome to perish on the poorly defended stations.
For straight stellaris play you could be fanatic xenophile with charismatic to pacify the AI while you fill them with crime as a criminal origins megacorp. Might work well with the gospel of the masses intended combo as you spread crime and make them suffer they flip to spiritualist and then want to be your friend EVEN MORE.
Also the shared burdens civic being egalitarian when caste system on authoritarians actually simulated the actual real world state communist countries end end up in (while shifting said caste system to slaver guilds) is cute as hell. Oh lefty paradox it's so adorable how you think the workers in a communist state aren't basically heavily oppressed and purposefully impoverished servants to the political elite.

Can I just say it annoys me to no end that the species types (Human/Mammal/Reptilia/Avian/ect...) means absolutely nothing despite the initial streams prior to launch promising that these xeno types would play a role in interspecies diplomacy and how your species might treat others. Shouldn't need to be xenophobic or authoritarian to enslave/purge pops outside your primary species group.

Species class plays a role on opinions of xenophiles and xenophobes toward you and of other empires toward them it's a pretty fluffy thing that is a small modifier for AIs.
Xenophobes like it less and get liked less if you are different class to them and even only get slightly peeved if you just have the same portrait, xenophiles like different class MORE.
Though looks to be some daft aspects to it like all non xenophobes liking xenophiles of a different species class MORE than a xenophile in the same class as them.
It gets outweighed by other modifiers from ethics and such and you cruise past it as a player with your own thoughts but you could hypothetically set up a bunch of minor xenophobe AIs with matching ethics from 2 different species class groups and watch them align according to group for a space race war.

The biggest difference seems to be with robot empires. Robotic purgers will fucking love your empire if you're robots too, even if it was through technological ascension.

Genetics mastery ascension is pretty crap fluff wise
Last I checked there's only like one or two events for it and aside from that you get nothing
And it mainly depends on just micromanaging everything which is effective, sure. But it's not really doable with a huge empire and gets everything fucked the second you stop paying attention

Basically it doesn't get any fun flavour things for it and you just get straight up more points to do genetics stuff with

Re: Paradox Grand Strat meets Sci-Fi 4X; Boners Explode
There are a few strong genetic traits that you can only research if you achieve genetic ascension but beyond that it's fairly tame.
Meanwhile technological ascension will really piss off the spiritual fallen empires in your galaxy and create some cool interactions with them.
Spiritual ascension gives you the in-game equivalent of a gacha pull every few months, but it may turn one of your leaders into an immortal Chosen One, who will then try to become GOD EMPRAH OF MANKIND.

Genetic Ascension is amazing, I don't know what you're smoking. The 2nd ascension perk allows you to remove and replace beneficial traits so you can custom tool species and subspecies for various labors (2.2 is going to be interesting to see how this changes.) Biggest complaint I have is species modding takes entirely too long and can only be done to one species at a time. Event wise, Psi gets the most with the shroud but genetic and synth are both powerful when done right.
Stellaris modding is about as difficult as any other Paradox game. Depends what you are changing or adding, if you know how to code and have the assets ready it's a breeze. If you're starting from scratch or changing core game files then you're going to hit the compatibility wall where your mod doesn't play nice with others.

I like using Genetic Ascension to make servitor races. With the upcoming compatibility perk, you could use eugenics to increase how many traits you can add and even acquire traits normally not available to you (like psionic).
You could use eugenics and gene-modding to create an erudite, venerable, psionic, cybernetic, etc race of Ubermensch.
