I thought maybe the pilot wouldn't be representative of the actual show, since you know - it didn't happen on the discovery.

But no. First proper episode: Woman-with-a-man's name's room mate is a fucking ginger Sarah Ryder. I'm expecting next episode she chokes on a piece of lego and all the useless men crowd around not knowing what do until Miss Knowitall runs up to do a vulcan heimlich.

If we forget pillow talk, roses or board games being nice in a relationship, I'm not sure her character made any sexual leaning outside her clothes, I'd even imagine she'd be repulsed by the question of a date. Then I started fawning over Data for some reason even though I didn't like him that much.

I'm pretty sure the Doctor was a closer Data analogue than Seven was. Those stories were at least a little interesting and only occasionally tread the "oh right the Doctor isn't affected by shit because he's not real" literal deus ex machina.

They also had fun beyond "I'm a hologram" by using unethical medical research and the patient's wishes being a part of the doctor's responsibility. Huh, I guess I liked at least one character from Voyager.

They did a sorta weird solo-episode too where everyone on the ship was trapped in suspended animation except the doctor who just kinda wandered around all episode until he fixed everything.

We had a better black lead in Sisko too. I mean fuck no one has ever been underrepresented in Star Trek since the fucking 60s.
