finally caved and hacked my (several years old and mostly untouched) 3DS, it's definitely worth it. been replaying Mother 3 on it since the 3DS has such a good built in GBA emulator, it's actually a really good time

Yeah
SS13 is at that point where it feels old, but still looked consistent and nice enough to work, you can think about it like ASCII and let your imagination fill in the rest.
Suspend your disbelief and look at the game like icons moving around representing things rather than a true graphical representation of spacestation life

Wurm is at that point where everything looks like you've got eye issues and need -20 or so glasses, there is just enough detail to disable the imagination but not enough to look good
And the grind is absolutely horrible

Yeah, I mostly play medic and engi, too.
Never got the hang of scout, used to be a halfway decent pyro.
Also an extremely annoying spy, which seems to be all that class is good for.

Depends on the map

There's a lot more nuance to the design of 5CP maps than, say, an attack/defend map.

I have a lot of appreciation for well designed 5CP maps like Granary's simple but solid and Badlands' non-linearity.

Well is too biased towards the winning team and Fastlane is just garbo. I have a personal liking for Freight, though.

My map Coldfront was a study on Granary, but I recognise the flaws it has (2nd flip flops too often, and last is too open. Also chokepoint issues all-around).

I love control points but i've only ever had one game of it where both teams were competent and it was the interesting back and forth gameplay it's designed to be

Turbine is/was terrible
But then thats mostly because it didn't work well for TF2. I can see how it would work for something else though

scout is able to do ridiculous burst damage with the scattergun, pistol is a decent retreat weapon, and if you take the sandman you can shut people down instantly

if you know how to get around people it's insanely easy to take out a person or two and hide again

he's better on larger maps with more routes though (eg. not payload, which is probably your issue)

Medics are faster than spies, though. Any medic who stays alert is going to be a bitch to backstab.

it's not as difficult as you'd think, if you've managed to uncloak behind enemy lines unnoticed you're likely going to snatch a medic kill

Borderlands 2 despite the memes has aged oddly well. I think it's the enemy variety, FPSes I've played have gone downhill like a cliff compared to a game where you actually have to switch up weapons and tactics regularly.

I really dislike borderlands despite liking games like diablo with all the loot, and FPSes are pretty much all I play

and I'm not even talking about the wiring, that's irrelevant, I hate the gameplay

the movement feels too floaty and shitty

the gunplay feels wimpy and unsatisfying

there's too much shit loot (and I know this is common to loot 'em ups) for the inventory system and it makes it a pain to micromanage

I mean if you enjoy it by all means don't let me stop you but it's such a damn shame that it takes a lot of things I like and combines them into what I feel is a mediocre and boring game

tales from the borderlands was fantastic though, twd season 1 level of quality game imo

Agree wholeheartedly that Tales from the Borderlands was better than it had any right to be, it's what got me interested in the shootbangs again.

Something about a setting being viewed from the perspective of characters that aren't traditional protagonists for the genre is really interesting, being less physically powerful yet having more narrative agency.

I've been playing Bio Inc Redemption, a game about disease and the Human body. It is similar to Plague Inc with the resource collection and bio points and the symptoms but it's about a specific person instead of about a worldwide pandemic. For example, the patient's overall health is derived from the health of his various systems, which are divided into: Circulatory, Respiratory, Digestive, Nervous, Skeletal, Renal, immune and Muscular. One system failing causes all the others to fail even faster which can have an exponential effect on lowering their health.

There's two modes in to the game: Life and Death.

In Death, you take on the side of the disease and are generally trying to kill the patient (there's some variance but ultimately that's the objective in most cases). Your goals can vary but in Death, your goal is to usually kill them. To make one person very sick you can evolve specific risk factors to put him under greater risk (like evolving the smoker risk factor to make their respiratory system collapse faster) or evolve symptoms that wouldn't be available to you otherwise, like diabetes for an overweight patient. You can also evolve him a phobia of doctors or send points to make the hospital busy to make his recovery take longer.

In Life, you're the patient's medical team. Life has more varied goals than Death, the most basic objective is to help the patient to 100% recovery but you might also get the objective to diagnose 10 diseases, or treat 12 illnesses before the patient dies. In Life, you need to identify what's causing the symptoms with diagnostic tests by using the patient's symptoms and how fast his different body parts are failing as clues as to what could be affecting him. Do note that some tests are more broad than others, like a metabolic panel will identify potassium deficiency in the muscular system but also identify high cholestrol in the circulatory system. You can also prescribe lifestyles to slow down the rate of failure and even reverse the damage in some cases, if all else fails you can perform a transplant/experimental surgery as a last ditch effort to save a system from failure

I bought Black Desert Online because I like MMOs with noncombat stuff

jesus christ it's the most stereotypically korean game I've ever played

character models are very "korean" with samey male faces and plastic surgery women, it even has jiggle physics
the game bombards you with thirty thousand advertisements from other players and shit you don't understand
the UI is cluttered as shit, and it has a UI editor, but it still doesn't help the feeling
the tutorials are barebones/nonexistent - the game taught me how to accept a quest after 1 1/2 hours of gameplay where I had done that multiple times
the engrish makes it really difficult to understand what's going on

I'm sure there's a good game in there but I'd rather just play mabinogi or some shit

For the most part I tend to avoid the first group unless I really can't move on without stepping into a bad position.

My ambush style works with explosives for opener, and then either blowing up cover or simply shooting the enemy if the odds are good enough, as long as you use height and heavy cover you should be fine.

If you see shitcurity (really, the only melee that matters, unless you like hugging mutons) and don't see the way to remove them from the round in one turn, remember that flashbangs, fire, and poison will prevent them from tazing you, instead trying to shoot you.

Also one of the mods you should get is one to make Bradford shut up, your sanity will thank you.

Psychoscope made the game bearable again. Actually, it's pretty fun now.

I don't know if it was a good idea letting players fabricate neuromods. There's no reason not to put 100% of the materials I get into printing more.
