tried to run a meme round since i was the only admin and it was my last round of the night and the players voted on it. ran ragin mages, apparently they're bugged so the round ends if the first wiz dies or something. i announced WHO DIE RAST, played doom e1m1 midi and spawned some meteors and rods. before i could even call shuttle the round ended. apparently the first wiz got impaled by a rod when he teleported in by sheer chance. was a little bit embarrassing but it was still fun

I should point out that the devastation range covered the entire z-level. Anything that wasn't indestructible was vaporized.

Note that this does NOT apply to things like, shuttle docking ports. Someone (WHO WAS NOT ME) discovered this when they did the same thing on the centcom z-level and broke the escape shuttle.

I abused my admin priveledge in an egregious lapse of thought and judgement; negatively impacting a round and killing multiple players, wounding many more.
Now that the Headmins have settled on the punishment; I can say that by all rights, I was holding my breath expecting to be deadmin'd for my actions.
I was given a three day ban to think about what I'd done. I did not try to appeal, the fault was 110% with me.
Now I have been dropped back to Trialmin and I will use this time to fall back into my old habits. The ones that got me this position to begin with, and that the playerbase had begun to like about and see in me. I was honoured to be taken on as a Trialmin, surprised to be made a Fullmin, and confused when multiple players were asking me to run for Headmin.
Being a made a Trialmin again is the right decision. It'll keep me honest, and humble as I go through the motions again and re-learn what I'd evidently forgotten what being an admin is about. This thread is really more for goofy fuck-ups, but it's called a confession thread and that's what I'm here to do. Go on the record and publicly confess.
I was a Badmin, and now I'm just sorry.

First round: Try to do everything is slowly turning invisible gimmick, usually works by mass editing alpha of /mob /obj and /turf. Try a new way involving mass editing /atom, all lighting immediately broken, everything is pitch black. Deliver antag tokens and reboot.
Second round: Decide to do it the old way. Same thing happens again. Hand out another round of antag tokens, reboot again.
Third round: Deliver myself to the station in chains to be punished for breaking reality repeatedly.

ya, lighting is done as darkness objects placed on every turf. (alpha of 255 = full dark, 0 = full brite) the actual type is /atom/movable/light, so doing something like that on all /atom or all /atom/movable effects the lighting object

Was doing investigation and had multiple player panels open. Had the wrong panel open and banned the wrong guy. :^)

Edit: I should say, I noticed when it logged the ban and I saw the Ckey I went "OH FUCK" audibly and then unbanned them. They showed up back in game not long after I unbanned them so it worked out I guess.

I gave Jarek a 3 day jobban from science after he turned himself into a chaos carp and panic-zapped someone who hit him. Was kinda unreasonable considering the person in question didn't even ahelp, and I missed the fact that their previous notes about gold slimes were from a while back. Talked it out with adminbus and Jarek, removed the ban the following round, etc.

Definitely a misstep that I feel bad about, but thankfully the user in question was super reasonable afterwards, including admitting that I had a point with my bwoink. I was unprofessional in the way I acted and I'm glad the user in question is forgiving about it, and I'm going to keep this incident in mind when I have to deal with a situation in the future.

Reading notes goes a long way for minimizing fuck ups.There's been a few times where I would have given someone a simple warning for something they've done a dozen times before, and other times I would have slapped them for a dayban when they had zero notes for.

I tried giving a group instruction to the nuke operatives to gib the HoS (the HoS was pestering me to gib him like a shitbrain in adminhelps) and accidentally said "HEY OPERATIVES" over the common channel when i spawned the wrong headset. Nobody cared except one crewman, who did nothing. The operatives successfully stealthopped, assassinated the captain, and detonated the nuke on solars, resulting in a neutral victory. Good job, everyone!
