What TGUI should I update first?
I'm doing gui work. These 8 consoles are the most complicated/difficult to port to tgui. So which one should I attempt first?
Also Coming Soon: Some gui that uses the popup object will get upgraded to tgui
Alternatively suggest a neglected UI you think desperately needs to be updated

Re: What TGUI should I update first?
You do not need to put the ID console to TGUI, there is already one in modular computers!
EDIT: If I may throw in a suggestion for an item not on your list: GPS units. TGUI is optimal for things that automatically update, and GPS units do not. They certainly need to be, with the option to 'mark' one target for tracking, where you get an arrow pointing to your destination, similar to how the pointointer works! I would like to do this myself, but the workings of TGUI escape me at the present time.

I will miss the days of using medical sensors to crash someone's game.

Re: What TGUI should I update first?
I was looking into that actually. What part of the loading process takes so long?
I should also write a how-to for tgui
Thanks for the tipGun Hog wrote:GPS units. TGUI is optimal for things that automatically update, and GPS units do not. Re: What TGUI should I update first?
actually, i kinda like the fact that the gps units dont auto-update, as when i do telesci, sometimes i use my gps to quickly "capture" the gps location of someone if i accidentally press my recieve button.Gun Hog wrote:You do not need to put the ID console to TGUI, there is already one in modular computers!

it was never laggy for people who actually have a real pc.
The rest of you are either behind in ie. on xp or using machines from 1999

tgui is objectively slower than simpler UIs, not by much but it's noticeable

This is correct. I've been trying to pin down which part of the process is actually taking the most time.PKPenguin321 wrote:using latest software with win10 etc, and more than decent hardware to play spessoranges wrote:it was never laggy for people who actually have a real pc.

Re: What TGUI should I update first?
Things that really need a tgui update but are not on the list:
remote signallers, timers etc (singallers for example should have a less clunky way of setting the frequency)
and camera console (it should still just be a list, but PLEEEEEAAAASEEE make the window larger so you don't have to scroll such an ungodly amount)

Just replace the camera consoles with the advanced one, fuck scrolling through lists upon lists.CPTANT wrote:Things that really need a tgui update but are not on the list:

Re: What TGUI should I update first?
No, the advanced camera is a huge balance change, a larger camera selection list is a QoL change.Kraso wrote:Just replace the camera consoles with the advanced one, fuck scrolling through lists upon lists.CPTANT wrote:Things that really need a tgui update but are not on the list:

Re: What TGUI should I update first?
Just keep in mind that TGUI with a large amount of data will cause a lot of problems to lower-end pcs(heck, even some people with high-end pcs have problems with it). An example is the GPS, even though it would be really nice having the dynamic position, it could cause a lot of lag(most of people that use a gps will be a miner in lavaland, and in there lag means death).

Re: What TGUI should I update first?
TGUI really needs to be optimised, first of all, rather than be implemented everywhere. As a chemist, with the dispenser and chemmaster windows open most of the time, my fps eventually slow down to a crawl.

Re: What TGUI should I update first?
Timers aren't used too much compared to many other interfaces but wow, when you do use one you quickly realize that its the worst UI in the game right now. I don't even think it auto-updates, even though its a timer that needs to update every second.CPTANT wrote: remote signallers, timers etc (singallers for example should have a less clunky way of setting the frequency)
