My side of the story: I would like to preface this by saying that this is my first time on the /tg/ forums (although I have lurked a few of the development sections on and off) and I am unfamiliar with a lot of the process here so please be gentle.
Anyhow, as stated above, me, and my friend Bekons where permanently banned for metacommunication on another server's teamspeak. How the story starts... So I am a very long time player of space station 13, about a year and a half (not really that long compared to a lot of the /tg/ community though), and most of my time has been spent in the Yogstation13 community. There have been a lot of problems with Yogstation's community and server as of the recent months, this includes a huge loss of a few of the higher staff members leading to, in my opinion, a huge rift in the community. (yes the whole story is necessary unfortunately)

Yogstation has a few controversial rules about "powergaming", basically meaning if you end up doing anything mildly robust people get upset about it. I have done a lot of fairly robust things that a few of the staff seem to really hate me for. Stuff like shooting changelings full of neurotoxin and then cremating them as a chaplain, things of that sort. This has lead to me getting permabanned from the yogs community like... 5 times (if you really wanna know some of the ban reasons I can let you know, I don't want you thinking I am a griefy person or anything). Most of the staff that had a problem with me left in the past few months, and things have been fine for a while. Recently a few of the old admins started adminning again and brought back their unyielding hatred for me. Long story short they recently banned me and bekons from the server permanently with alleged metacommunication (which didn't happen I might add, which can be confirmed by a bunch of other teamspeak moderators and server admins if you would like) on the yogstation teamspeak with bekons (my brother in robust arms) with no real evidence to back it up. As a big spriter for the yog coders, and a person who focuses hard on teaching new players, I was absolutely fucking blown away, in the ban reason they called me and bekons "Toxic" and "A cancerous influence to the server", and naturally I was pretty fucking upset, after all the things I have done for so long to contribute to their community. One of the admins that had a problem with me (Chuggachar) came to the teamspeak to hear me being mad, because for some reason he seems to enjoy that, I rant for a few minutes about how I have done so much for the yogs community, and they toss me out, and how bullshit it is, I am angry, I have a lot of really close friends in that community that I am really going to miss, but Yogs codebase is in shambles, and the community is stagnating because they push away new players and I told chuggachar that I am done with yogs, this time I am not appealing their ban, and that I am done with yogstation, and that my list of reasons to actually care about yogstation was growing shorter and shorter and my list of reasons to just say fuck it and go to /tg/station where rising, and that I'm fucking done and just going to /tg/.

Yes, drama I know, it's dumb and you don't give a shit, I don't expect you too.

This is when me and bekons logged onto tg because I was really fucking mad and needed to blow off a little steam, join /tg/station and I join between rounds, fuck yeah, that feeling. I join as a scientist and bekons joins as a sec officer. I go about exploring all about /tg/ I read the changelog a bit, and go to check out some of the huge codebase differences of /tg/ and yogstation, we talk over the teamspeak about how the slime management console seems really similar to the abductor console, and about how it would be really nifty to make a similar adaptation to the sec camera monitor console thingies. Oh by the way I was also a cultist, I talk a bit about how /tg/'s cult is back to "oldcult" and it's still a lot different from yogstation's "Really old cult". Bekons is a sec officer, already dealing with cultists in brig or whatever, so he knows it's cult for sure. Sec does a raid on science, I end up fucking bekon's shit up with a stunprod, robust the shit out of him. He ded. Then HoS fucking reks me and we both ghost around talking about the /tg/ community and codebase and whatnot.

This is when Chuggachar on teamspeak, logs onto /tg/station and tells the admins that we are metacommunicating and such. Bekons is contacted and admits that we where talking in the TS. We are permabanana. Other server mods and shit were present and if you would like, could vouch for the fact that we weren't really metacommunicating about IC shit.

Why you think you should be unbanned: The "metacommunication" while technically present, was extremely minor, and not really relevent to IC. We where primarily talking about the massive code differences between yogstation and /tg/, which had been the subject of massive controversy and debate in the yogs community. I am pretty new to /tg/ and didn't realize how strict they where about metacommunication. I come from backround of a lot of really heavy roleplay centric games, where it's naturally expected of you to compartmentalize your IC and OOC information.

I realize now the seriousness of metacommunication, and I really value the /tg/ community, because it's pretty fuckin' cool.

p.s. sorry for writing so much, I know none of you want to read all this shit, and I thank the people who do, I really don't want to have to wait another year to appeal.

Metacommunication is pretty much our strictest rule.

You kinda explain it decently though, and maybe it's because you're alright and maybe (Considering you got out of a lot of permabans on Yogstation) you're just good at explaining your way out of stuff.

You'd probably get another shot but there's really no way you can ever be in TS/skype whatever with your mate again. That's basically impossible to enforce so the go to is usually to just unban one of the metagamers. Decide between you who that is I guess.

I checked in with some other yog people and chances are there's no point in keeping either of you banned, although admins here will be watching closely for any sort of possible metacomms. You're gonna have to wait until next round to be unbanned.

I can confirm that the admin Chuggachar has a extreme bias towards both of these players as well as most of the people that are in the teamspeak including other admins, it wouldn't be a surprise if chuggachar would come onto TG and over exaggerate the situation at hand knowing how much he dislikes these players, further more being a teamspeak mod (not a yog admin (proof im a ts mod http://imgur.com/gTSDBhb)) I do have to warn them time to time to stop metaing on yogstation but it very rarely goes past vague insults about ic things or laughing at the situation that they know. But unfortunately I was not there at the time of the incident but another admin by the name Stealthkibbler can comfirm that at the time they where only talking about the in-game features and that is about it from his short description. In my opinion what happened is that Chuggachar abuse the fact that he has pull as being a yogstation admin to get someone instantly banned on another server. I recommend that if any decisions are made you should get both Chuggachar's and Stealthkibbler's statements on this.

Yeah, I wasn't aware how strict you are on the metacommunication, but I completely understand. And as for my permabans, hahaha oh man, some of them are actually facepalm worthy. Permabanned for picking up the nuke disk and taking it to security. Permaban for lighting a plasma cloud on fire when I was caught between a blob and a cloud of plasma (which I didn't notice) while I had my welder on while fighting the blob. I really try and be a nice guy, and I can tell you that I really am honestly shit at talking my way out of things. I have put a lot of effort into this because I actually like /tg/ and I really don't want to risk a denied appeal by writing something dumb or not well thought out enough or anything. I was a part of the dev team on yogs (for what it's worth) and really did try and make things better there and I hope to instead bring that effort over to /tg/ so that maybe some of that effort won't be completely waisted.
