People that use the gulag as an 'alternative perma', where you're supposed to leave people marooned, stripped of every possible bit of gear, and set to arrest by the securitron.

That is both shit and dangerous. The gulag is designed so you can work off a sentence instead of having a timed one. As a perma alternative, it's not just insecure but flat-out dangerous: so long as there are two people inside it, they will kill beepsky and can easily kill you next time you drop someone off. Just put them in the actual prison or, if you're concerned they'll escape, execute them.

Set them to Incarcerated, and the Prison Ofitser to "Detain" mode. If they attack it, they get chainstunned forever, but if they don't, they can work off their sentence.

There's certainly something annoying about a revenant turning up, stunning you, and then running away only to do it again a minute later when the cooldown is over. Not very easy to counter, at least if it's paying attention, and it can do quite a bit of damage.

Yeah, they just disarm. Beepsky's baton is irrelevant, although it does make a good club. Gulag doesn't have the same setup of airlocks with remote doors to put prisoners through, so you're always surrounded by everyone there.

When I do anything long-term (like xenobiology), when suddenly nuke ops. Either they fluke and we get away on the shuttle that's called immediately when they are sighted, or they blow up the station very soon. Either way, my work is cut short.

Great, now that traitor/greytider is impossible to catch by anyone so long as he has a finger on a movement key. Thanks for making everything harder.

I always do this because, yes, the traitor gets stim/healing, but so does his victim(s). It's a universal buff that makes it a lot harder to die/be killed, which is a good thing.

It's also then really hard for a traitor to murderbone if everyone has stimulant/regen due to stuns not lasting as long and crit not being a eventual death sentence.

It also helps for mundane threats like carp/away missions/being caught in explosions etc.

Why the fuck would I hand it out in pills. Give it sneezing then run around injecting a bunch of people with your own blood then evemtually the whole station will get it. Announce it on the radio so those that want it can get it quickly and act as extra infection vectors.

I usually go with filt/comp, respiration, stimulant, and sneezing. Ocular restoration is incredibly niche, and weight even is useful if you take a LOT of damage, since iirc virus healing drains nutrition, but otherwise it isn't very useful. Trying to isolate more symptoms just stretches your thin supplies thinner, and makes it take even longer to make a good virus.

Sneezing I generally use because I haven't really found anyone who doesn't want a healing virus, so much as they just don't trust it, and if its purely beneficial then no harm done... Plus without it you'd only get the virus to a small fraction of the station anyway, since half the station cba to walk all the way to medbay or don't care.

The sheer disappointment when you try to draw liquid from the bottle and you only get a single unit of blood...

There's actually a 7th good symptom now (DNA Restoration) so you can't fit all the symptoms you want on 1 disease but that doesn't actually matter because if you've made one disease there's very little work involved in continuing on to make the full three - and the healing from them stacks.

I generally try and give every disease Sneezing, Toxic Compensation, and Toxic Filter. After that as long as each symptom is on any one of my diseases it doesn't matter. I should probably prioritise getting DAR onto each strain as well given it looks like the brain damage and radiation treatment effects might stack but they're such minor things that it doesn't matter.

The only time I bother to get rid of sneezing is when I'm converted in a gang round early by a CMO or whatever so I can give only my gang the regeneration memes.

People that, instead of making a request, just say "AI" and then wait, then keep repeating it. I've got stuff to do: tell me what you want, don't expect me to try and worm out an order from you. It's even less of an order than "door AI" (though even that can be too vague occasionally).

as a mirror to this, i hate it when i call to an AI to open a maint door that i'm behind and describe in painful detail which one it is, but because i'm in maint and they can't track me to get to the door faster they just give up and pretend law two doesn't exist. (i mean the doors that lead to maint directly from a department, the ones that the AI can still see)

On another similar note, being an AI on a server your not familiar with. I know just about every door on box, so an assistant can scream " AI open *this area maint* door ", and I know exactly where that is, but on meta and especially on anything else, is confusing as hell

It's insane that's what it is! The level of long sightedness you need in order to assume that the mere possibility of the person uploading harmful laws would also by that merit allow the AI to do whatever the fuck it wants via justifying it with 'well that could lead to harm through...' and then making whatever shit it wants up. The entire point of Asimov's laws was that they were stupid.

Silicon Policy does say that an AI can ask there to be a head of staff to go in the Upload if the person is not the RD or the Captain (I forget the proper wording), even if they are a Head of Staff themself. But if it's satisfied and you're not wielding a weapon/covered in blood or otherwise have done anything harmful; the AI has no business denying you access and MUST let you in.

Actually just checked the silicon policy. Turns out that you can in fact demand it.

Any silicon under Asimov can deny orders to allow access to the upload at any time under Law 1 given probable cause to believe that human harm is the intent of the person giving the order (Referred to for the remainder of 2.1.6 simply as "probable cause").
Probable cause includes presence of confirmed traitors, cultists/tomes, nuclear operatives, or any other human acting against the station in general; the person not having upload access for their job; the presence of blood or an openly carried lethal-capable or lethal-only weapon on the requester; or anything else beyond cross-round character, player, or metagame patterns that indicates the person seeking access intends redefinition of humans that would impede likelihood of or ability to follow current laws as-written.
If you lack at least one element of probable cause and you deny upload access, you are liable to receive a warning or a silicon ban.
You are allowed, but not obligated, to deny upload access given probable cause.
You are obligated to disallow an individual you know to be harmful (Head of Security who just executed someone, etc.) from accessing your upload.
In the absence of probable cause, you can still demand someone seeking upload access be accompanied by another trustworthy human or a cyborg.

That's bloody annoying.
