[Shaps] BlessedHeretic - Gateway mistake Ban

Ban reason and length: 2880 minutes - On an away mission with an EVA segment, built an r-wall in a doorway between a pressurized and depressurized zone, apparently to keep people from going outside. Ended up killing ~8 people when it became apparent that people couldn't get back inside, and had to be told to deconstruct the r-wall (saving two more people who wandered in after). Ban is proportionally light for the number of people that died since it was sorta/kinda understandable, and he dragged the dead bodies back to medbay after

Your side of the story: So, as most people know. Gateways are back and are fun as usual (especially for lings.). Basically, on a round on dream, I had gotten bored of mining and broke my way into the gateway room and hopped into the portal, after arriving in a room exposed to a roid, I did what a miner does and mined for gibtonite, this opened the room to EVA. I saw someone go down in said room because no atmos and being space winded in front of 2 turrets and then walled it off afterwards assuming people coming through the gate would land at safer locations.

Turns out I walled off the only section of the ship people can come through, although not technically a prison because south lead to space, it meant anyone exploring the gateway without a EVA suit was effectively doomed to die, but also might have to risk getting shot at by turrets. I spent the rest of my round nabbing all the stuff off the ship, tossing it into the gateway since it was all pretty mundane stuff, and went back to check out the room and grab the broken ripley to toss into the portal. To my horror I found a fuckton of bodies piling up, so i started grabbing them all and tossing them back through the portal, saving anyone i could with what little healing supplies i had.

in the end 8 people died, and a bunch more who arrived on the ship barely escape the chamber after i broke down the R-wall (Note I was never asked to, I did it after confirmed for certain it was blocking the only gateway spawn.).

There was no malice in my actions, i thought for sure what I did would in fact save more lives than end, seeing as the space wind in that particular room was enough to pull people straight into space infront of 2 turrets that automatically shoot people (including myself.).

I'm more confused why more people kept coming considering there should of been 3-4 bodies that were husked from exposure right at the other end of the gateway, but that's not really relevant, more of an odd fact that people like to toss themselves into weird situations.

I was one of the people that got killed by that wall. Ran away into the mine and died from a combo of the lasers you tried to block and pressure damage. I didn't ahelp though.

There were no bodies at the gateway when I walked through and walling off the only pressurized area, even if it has lasers, is kinda dumb but you did it in good faith and you did bring my body back to the station. Don't really think this deserves a ban.

Sorry for the late response, as I said in the PM's I was really confused with what had happened and actually had to ask for an explanation on how exactly the r-wall caused so many deaths, so I can empathize with how it wouldn't be obvious the wall was a bad thing. That being said, after the first couple of bodies piled up outside, it probably should have been a good indication that the wall was a bad idea

I'll hop on and unban you, just be more careful with blocking off doorways in the future
